Summary

There has been much interest globally on the application and implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM). Many governments and private clients are now adopting BIM in line with industry standards to enable greater control and productivity on their projects.

 

Overview

Over a period of six weeks, our online sessions will discuss the fundamentals of BIM and how the use of industry standards to control the process can ultimately lead to greater productivity on built projects. How to solve these common issues quickly and effectively with confidence, using best practice, case studies and examples.

Sessions are 1-hour long, and will run from 10.00 AM -11.00 PM BST for 6 weeks and shall cover 6 topics, each topic is broken down into a 30-minute online presentation, 20-minute case study and 10-minute Q&A.

Members gain 3 CIOB CPD points when you reflect on the ethical aspects of your learning from this activity.

Structure

Each module is structured as follows:

  • 30 minutes presentation of the topic
  • 20 minutes review of a case study
  • 10 minutes question and answer session

The course will be delivered over 6 consecutive weeks.

Objectives
  • Understand the definitions surrounding BIM and key terms used when applying BIM to your projects.
  • Identify responsibilities on a BIM project in line with contractual obligations.
  • Learn how to deliver information and support compliance to BS EN ISO 19650.
  • Understand the difference between the project and asset information requirements.

  3. The importance of roles and functions on a BIM Project.
  4. An overview of the concepts and principles of BS EN ISO 19650.
  5. Information Delivery Cycle and Documentation.
  6. Links between Project and Asset Information.

The sessions are designed to be interactive, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions as Rebecca delivers each topic. If you are unable to attend a live session, you can submit questions in advance to be addressed during the hour.

Rebecca De Cicco & Team

Rebecca Decicco has a deep passion for digital technologies and their transformative potential in the Built Environment. As an Australian architect with experience managing and training teams to use technology for more efficient workflows, Rebecca has honed her expertise over almost 10 years in the UK, where she has held successful senior roles in various architectural organizations. Today, she runs her own consultancy, Digital Node, providing construction professionals around the world with advice and insight on advanced digital solutions for projects, as well as implementation and management processes.

Rebecca’s expertise extends to communicating, training, and managing teams in a BIM environment, and sharing her knowledge throughout the industry through education and non-profit groups. She supports Building Smart globally, sits on the Autodesk Developer Network and Expert Elite groups, and collaborates with the UK BIM Alliance and BIM Regions to help the industry upskill. She is also the Chair of Women in BIM, a diversity group that promotes gender balance in the construction industry.

Rebecca is a fellow of the CIOB and offers support and training to organisations like BSI, CIOB, and others in the BIM space. She also tutors and lectures undergraduate and postgraduate students in BIM and construction management. Her strong interest in training and upskilling is reflected in her social media presence, where she shares insights and updates through her personal account (@becdecicco), her organisation (@digital_node), and her diversity group (@WomeninBIM).
