Overview
Loss of reputation, time and money are all very real possibilities for companies when quality is neglected on construction projects. Moreover, widely publicised issues with construction quality has meant the industry is under the microscope like never before. The legislative landscape is also changing, and providing site supervisors with knowledge and skills in quality control is now a must.
Our course on the fundamentals of quality supervision will prepare you to implement vital techniques for controlling the quality of work on your projects. This includes how to carry out quality inspections, record and maintain results, and demonstrate knowledge of all standards and codes of practice. You will also be able to take the necessary corrective action, when standards are not met.
At the end of the course, you will be confident to lead improvements in the culture on site by driving change and leading on effective supervision. This can only be beneficial to your reputation and have positive impacts on budgets and time.

Objectives
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Understand how to carry out site quality inspections
- Prepare, record and maintain quality inspection results
- Demonstrate an appreciation of legislation, standards and codes of practice
- Apply corrective action to work that fails to meet specified quality standards
- Pass quality requirements to individuals and teams on site
Suitability
This course is designed for construction site supervisors who have duties for controlling construction quality. This includes supervisors of different trades and specialities on sites, as well as anyone responsible for inspecting and monitoring construction quality.

- Inspecting and recording quality on site
- Working with an Inspection & Test Plan (ITP)
- The ‘4Cs’: communication, co-operation, co-ordination and competence
- Improving quality with effective supervision
Assessment
There is no assessment, you will receive a certificate of completion following the course.

Martin McCabe MCIOB, C. Build E MCABE, CMIOSH, QTLS
Martin applies his years of experience in construction to create training that leads to real change. Chartered as a Construction Manager, Building Engineer and Health & Safety Practitioner, Martin has worked in a diverse range of roles across the industry and designed courses delivered around the world.
He sits on the Chartered Institute of Building’s Education, Standards and Qualifications Committee and provides Quality Assurance for the CIOB and other awarding organisations. He consults in a variety of industry roles offering advice on Project Management, Health & Safety and Temporary Works. He has designed and run training programmes at the Royal School of Military Engineering. In 2017 Martin consulted on the lifting operations at London’s Natural History Museum for the blue whale main exhibit.
Martin aims to facilitate learning that is relevant to each course delegate, so that the theory can be put into practice in the real world.
