The Domestic Architecture of Bury St.Edmunds

Description

In this presentation, Peter Riddington discusses the impact of the societal changes on the design choices within the construction industry.  He describes the brilliance of the Domestic Architecture that Bury St Edmunds has to offer and the changing designs of residential buildings in the town from the earliest days to the 21st Century.  He will also talk about how to identify the age of buildings from their forms and details.
Peter is an architect and now semi-retired working as a consultant with Donald Insall Associates the well-known conservation architects. He has over 35 years’ experience in the conservation and re-use of historic buildings, including 25 years with Insalls.
This is a fantastic opportunity to discover the Architectural history behind one of Suffolk's most iconic and historical towns and discover how influential societies changes are on our industry.
