Overview

Today’s Commercial Manager plays a key role in the management of commercial and contractual risk. The skills and abilities of the Commercial Manager can be the difference between success and failure of a project and ultimately the survival of the contractor.

This course draws upon years of commercial management experience and is designed to give you a road map of tasks, functions, responsibilities, and challenges encountered on construction projects. You will be introduced to a variety of tried and tested, tools and techniques to help protect the commercial interests of your organisation.

You will learn about the responsibilities and functions of the commercial manager throughout the life of a project. You will be introduced to good practices, hints and tips, jargon busters and discussions on the importance of commercial management within our industry.

You will leave the course with a clear understanding and detailed knowledge of contractual and commercial risk and how you can adapt and manage them through the life of a project. Nigel Clayton

Nigel Clayton provides in house and external full day seminars in a variety of construction related topics. His delegates have included local & regional contractors, sub-contractors, developers and specialist trades as well as construction professionals such as architects, surveyors and engineers.

He has also represented parties in adjudications and procured tenders for rail projects on behalf of Chiltern Railways amongst other works. Prior to establishing his own successful consultancy, Nigel has enjoyed senior positions with both contractors and consultants. A wide experience in the construction sector both internationally and across the UK provides Nigel with the practical and anecdotal references he uses throughout his training. Nigel has also had significant success commercially managing projects and teams in the infrastructure sector.
