How do your distance learning courses work?

All our courses are delivered via distance learning, providing flexibility and accessibility for learners.

  • Once enrolled, you will receive access to our Learning Management System (Moodle).
  • Moodle contains all e-learning materials, reading resources, and assignment/exam guidance.
  • Course materials are released progressively, allowing you to engage with the content, interact with trainers, and review case studies. The course timetable is available on Moodle.
  • Trainers are available for support via the discussion forum, monitored regularly.
  • Live webinars take place at the end of each unit, where trainers review content, assessment requirements, and answer any questions.

Assessment Methods:

  • If you are enrolled in any of the following courses, you will complete an assignment:
    • Level 4 Certificate in Construction Site Management – More Info
    • Level 6 Certificate in Fire Safety in Construction – More Info
    • Level 6 Diploma in Building Safety Management – More Info
  • For the Chartered Membership Programme, an exam is required. Exam fees must be paid directly to the awarding body –  More Info

    Certificate Processing:

    • Certificates can only be claimed once all units are successfully completed and passed.
    • It may take up to 16 weeks after course completion to receive your certificate.
    Are your courses accredited?

    Yes, we offer three accredited qualifications. All other courses are approved by the CIOB Academy.

    Do your courses support CSCS White or Black Card applications?

    Yes, the Level 4 Certificate in Construction Site Management supports applications for the CSCS White Card.

    How do I access my learning materials?

    Once you are enrolled and receive your login credentials, you can access your course materials on Moodle via the email address used for registration.

    Do you offer discounts for group bookings?

    Yes, we provide group booking discounts. Please contact the CIOB Academy for details.

    Can courses be tailored to meet my organisation’s needs?

    Yes, we can tailor training to suit your organisation by aligning content with job roles and industry requirements.

    Can you develop a bespoke course specific to our business needs?

    Yes, we can develop customised training solutions. We will provide a Training Needs Analysis form to assess your requirements before developing a tailored course.

    What are your payment choices?

    You can pay via invoice, credit card or debit card. We do not accept payments though American Express or via the phone.

    I haven’t received my email with my joining instructions. When will I receive this?

    Joining instructions are sent 1 week before the course start date. If it’s within that timeframe and you haven’t received them, please check your Junk/Spam folder or get in touch.

    How long will I have access to the course?

    Access to all e-learning courses is available for 90 days. The distance learning courses grant access for their entire duration, which varies by course.

    How do I assign a course to my colleague?

    When booking a course for someone else, please provide their full name and email address in the Notes section. The Academy Team will then manually assign the course to the individual who needs it.

    How do I enrol on a course?

    Simply visit the course page on our website, state your preferred date (if applicable), and follow the steps to book your place. If you need help, our team is here to support.

    How can I access the course slides?

    You can access the course slides via the learning platform. Please use the below steps to log in:

    1. Visit the CIOB Academy | Home
    2. Log in using the email address provided when purchasing the course and a password you’ve set. If you can’t access your account, please use the ‘Lost your password?’ prompt. Alternatively, please contact the CIOB Academy for further support.
    3. After logging in, go to the ‘My Courses’ tab and select your course. You can download the presentation slides from there.
    How can I access my attendance certificate?

    You can download your attendance certificate via the learning platform. Please use the below steps to log in:

    1. Visit the CIOB Academy | Home
    2. Log in using the email address provided when purchasing the course, and a password you’ve set. If you can’t access your account, please use the ‘Lost your password?’ prompt. Alternatively, please contact the CIOB Academy for further support.
    3. After logging in, go to the ‘My Courses’ tab and select your course. You can download your certificate from there.
    How do I become chartered (MCIOB)?

    There are multiple routes including the Chartered Membership Programme (CMP), Professional Review, and APEL. We recommend discussing this with the Academy team to discuss the best route for you.

    I’m a member of the CIOB. How do I access CPD and Technical Information Sheets for free?

    You can find your discount codes by logging in to the Members’ Portal (https://my.ciob.org/crm-member-homepage.html), clicking on the ‘Learning’ tab, and scrolling down to ‘Member Discounts’. You can then use these codes during the checkout process here on the Academy site and it will reduce the cost of CPD and Technical Information Sheets in your basket to £0!

    As a member, where can I log my CPD?
