Embodied Carbon in Construction: Why Supply Chains Hold the Key
$25.00
Description
Reducing embodied carbon requires collaboration across the entire construction supply chain from the very beginning, as the selection of materials, adoption of construction techniques, and processes used will all impact on the embodied emissions of a project. This CPD begins with an introduction to embodied carbon in construction from the author of the CIOB Guide to Embodied Carbon in the Built Environment, and then explored why the supply chain holds the key to getting to grips with this complex issue, drawing on the experience of Tier 1 Contractor Wates Construction, who are discovering that supply chain engagement can help avoid additional costs, improve quality, drive innovation and support their supply chain all at the same time.
Speakers:
- Amanda Williams – Head of Sustainability, CIOB
- Dr Kambiz Rakhshanbabanari – Lecturer in Construction Engineering and Management, Loughborough University, with research experience in energy efficiency and sustainability in residential and commercial buildings, building energy and performance assessment, Life Cycle Analysis, supervised machine learning and building structure reuse.
- Bekir Andrews CENV FIEMA – Sustainability Director at Wates Group, with a wealth of practical knowledge and experience in the construction sector, regularly participating in government consultations and recently helped shape the latest edition of the government’s construction playbook.
Please note that the audio quality for the first 2-3 minutes of Dr Rakhshanbabanari’s presentation is not as high as we would like, but this is quickly resolved. We thank you for your understanding.
