Biodiversity and Net Gain within Construction

Faye Durkin MCIEEM AIEMA, Head of Ecology at Ecus Ltd, introduces the concept of valuing biodiversity and methods for measuring biodiversity.    She gives developers an understanding of their current duty in respect of biodiversity net gain (BNG) and summarises the imminent changes that will be brought about by the Environment Bill in respect of the requirement to deliver 10% BNG. She also reviews how the mitigation hierarchy of avoid, mitigate and compensate can be applied to BNG and provides an insight into offsite biodiversity value compensation options.

CIOB Conservation Conference

New ideas for tough times

The theme of this year's annual conference is balancing conservation needs against rising costs. It is ideal for professionals involved in historic or traditional buildings as well as homeowners who are embarking on their own project.

We have drawn together leading experts from the UK and Europe who will give delegates the inside track on how these projects were successfully delivered and how they can apply what was learned to their own decision making.
