This 7-month distance learning course, CIOB Certificate in Fire Safety in Construction, provides a holistic view of fire safety within the context of modern safety regulations following the Grenfell Incident and the introduction of the Building Safety Act 2022.

To be eligible for the course, you must achieve a score of 100% in all responses. If your score falls between 50% to 100%, we will review your eligibility and contact you to discuss your potential qualification for the course. Structure
This is an e-learning course, split over 7 months and delivered in 2 expertly crafted units.
Throughout the first unit, Contractual and Legal Responsibilities within a Construction Environment, you’ll deep dive into the legislative side of fire safety.
- Finally, implement what you’ve learned into the practical setting, assessing building designs, documentation and compliance requirements to protect building occupiers.
The second unit – Fire Safety for Management in Construction, focuses on how building occupiers are likely to respond to various emergencies:
- Understand high-risk buildings and how fire principles change.
- Dive deeper into occupier behaviour, follow crowd mentality and human responses.
- Finally, look at the risk assessment process and the criteria you will be assessed against during your projects.

There are two scenario-based written assignments for this course, one at the end of each unit.
After successful completion of the Certificate of Fire Safety Construction course, participants will have the skills required to become a CIOB Technical Member. This will enable you to receive an internationally recognised qualification – TechCIOB, highlighting your technical and safety regulation expertise.

Specific entry requirements are as follows:
UCAS tariff Score 120 (current) / 32-48 (2017 onwards) and relevant experience
or
Level 4/6 S/NVQ, or equivalent, in a related subject
or
Five years’ relevant construction experience
